What is Ubuntu on a laptop from us?
That default is deliberate. Ubuntu is Canonical’s distribution — the one most people mean when they say "just put Linux on it." Long-term support releases get years of updates. apt is there when you want a terminal. University labs, Stack Overflow answers, and LMS docs usually assume you are on Ubuntu or something close. Muscle memory transfers.
We do not ship a locked Canonical image branded to this shop. We install current Ubuntu LTS (or Ubuntu Latest if you choose the shorter support window), load the desktop you pick, and make the silicon honest: Wi-Fi, GPU, webcam, Bluetooth, audio, touchscreen. Fail a radio check and the box does not leave. Pass, and tracking goes out before UPS Ground does — 5 business days, USA only.
Desktop defaults to GNOME. Want Plasma, Cinnamon, Xfce, MATE, LXQt, or Budgie on top of Ubuntu? Those desktops are on the product page. Prefer the official flavors as separate distribution options? Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Lubuntu are listed on their own so you are not guessing which checkbox means what.
We do not manufacture these laptops. We do not call them USA -made. Linux is installed in the USA ; fulfillment is East Coast; shipping is USA only in 5 business days; OEM warranty is kept. When a hinge fails in year two, you call Lenovo, Dell, HP, Acer, or Asus like everyone else. Lifetime support from us means a Linux engineer on the phone (877-547-3638) for the life of the machine — not a replacement for the hardware warranty.

3. Leave GNOME unless you know you want another desktop or an official flavor.
4. Optional: Dual Boot add-on if one Windows app is still a job requirement. We partition; the BIOS boot menu asks which OS to load. (Windows is only that Dual Boot add-on — not a standalone Home/Pro variant label.)
5. We install, configure, and test at the East Coast shop. Ships USA only in 5 business days, tracking emailed before it leaves.

Ubuntu LTS is the default and what we recommend. Ubuntu Latest is on the product page if you want the current short-term release and accept the shorter support window.
What desktop does an Ubuntu laptop ship with?
GNOME, unless you pick another desktop on the product page. Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Lubuntu are separate distribution options when you want those flavors.
Will Wi-Fi work on an Ubuntu laptop from you?
Yes — we test Wi-Fi, GPU, audio, webcam, Bluetooth, and touchscreen on the installed system before ship. Failures do not leave the East Coast shop.
How fast do Ubuntu laptops ship?
