The defenders still need a laptop.

The Linux Laptop Company

AI can flag the noise. Someone still has to hunt.

Threat models got louder. The people who keep campuses, clinics, and companies online still start the same way: a lab assignment, a terminal, and a distro that already has the tools. That distro is Kali Linux — Offensive Security’s Debian-based kit — on a Lenovo, Dell, HP, Acer, or Asus a campus shop can service. We install it, test Wi-Fi, GPU, webcam, Bluetooth, audio, and touchscreen, and you keep the manufacturer warranty. USA.

Kali, already on the machineCurrent Kali Linux. Xfce is Kali’s default. Dual-boot Ubuntu if this is also your school laptop.
Authorized workCoursework, university labs, professional pentest, defense. That is the use. We are not a hacking-laptop shop.
Hardware you can take to classAcer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Asus. When a hinge fails, you call them like everyone else.
Humans on the other sideAI threat detection is loud. Someone still has to verify, hunt, and patch. That someone needs a laptop.

The other side of the AI arms race still needs people.

Security products now advertise models that watch logs, score packets, and write tickets. Fine. The ticket still lands on a person who has to tell a real system from a hallucination, reproduce the finding, and fix it before Friday. That work happens on Linux. It has for a long time. Kali is the distro that community already carries into labs and authorized tests — not because it looks like a movie, because the toolkit is there and the docs match the class.

If you are nineteen and the career office said “cybersecurity,” this is the unglamorous version: a CS lab after dinner, a range your professor set up, a report due Monday. You do not need a mystery chassis from a “hacker store.” You need a name-brand notebook that suspends, associates with campus Wi-Fi, and still runs Kali when you pick it from the boot menu.

If you already do this for a living — SOC, authorized pentest, incident response — you already know Kali. You are tired of fighting OEM firmware on a personal kit. Same shop. Same test. Manufacturer warranty stays on the laptop.

The toolkit is public. The hardware should just work.

Offensive Security maintains Kali. Debian underneath, a security-focused package set, Xfce by default. We put it on current name-brand hardware and do not ship until the components behave.

The Kali toolkit. Installed. For authorized research.

Current Kali ships the official default image — kali-linux-default — not a stripped ISO and not every package in the archive. That is Kali’s Top 10 plus the rest of the default menu: recon, web testing, passwords, wireless, traffic analysis, forensics, reporting. The names below are what Offensive Security puts on a current desktop image. Use them on systems you own, a school range, or a job you are paid and permitted to test.

That is current Kali’s default desktop set — kali-linux-headless plus the Top 10 and the GUI extras (Burp Suite, Autopsy, Faraday, Legion, Zenmap, GoPhish). Kali’s rolling archive has more: Ghidra, OWASP ZAP, BloodHound, Nuclei, Caido. One apt command, or say so when you order. We do not ship kali-linux-everything unless you ask. Official catalog: kali.org/tools.

Kali is the kit, not a costume

We will install current Kali. We will not sell you a story about being a hacking laptop company. Authorized security work, university labs, professional pentest kits, defense coursework — that is the use. If you want a friendly desktop for Canvas, email, and PDFs, pick Ubuntu LTS or Linux Mint as the daily driver and add Kali as the second OS.

Kali can be picky about firmware. That is why this page exists. A current Lenovo, Dell, HP, Acer, or Asus. Current Kali. Wi-Fi, GPU, audio, webcam, Bluetooth, and touchscreen tested on the installed system. If a component fails, it does not leave.

Who this is for

  • Undergrads heading into IT security who need Kali for labs without spending the weekend on a USB installer
  • People who want one machine: Ubuntu or Mint for class, Kali from the BIOS boot menu for the range
  • Professionals who want a dedicated Kali kit on hardware a local shop can service
  • Anyone already in the Kali community who is tired of fighting OEM Wi-Fi and suspend

The distro landing with install details is Kali Linux laptops. Same shop. Shorter on the OS, longer on the career. The toolkit is listed above.

What we will not over-claim

Linux is not magic. Kali is not “unhackable,” and it is not a license. Use it on systems you own, systems your school put on a range, or systems you are paid and permitted to test. Bug-bounty programs have rules. So do employers. The other stuff is a crime, and it is not why this page exists.

We install the OS you asked for, on hardware that already works, with a person on the phone. We do not teach you to break into anything. The Kali community and your coursework already cover the legitimate path.

How an order works

  1. Pick a laptop on the shop.
  2. Set the distribution to Kali — or Ubuntu LTS as the daily driver and Kali as the dual-boot add-on. Two partitions. BIOS boot menu. They do not step on each other.
  3. A Linux engineer installs, configures, and tests every component in the USA.
  4. UPS Ground, typically 3–5 business days. Ready to open. Manufacturer warranty intact. Tracking emailed before it leaves.

If this is your only laptop, dual-boot Ubuntu and Kali. We partition the drive. The BIOS asks which OS to load. Canvas and the range do not have to share a desktop.

Kali & security FAQs

Is Kali a good daily-driver laptop OS?

For most people, no. Ubuntu LTS or Linux Mint is the better everyday desktop. Kali is for labs, coursework, and authorized testing. Dual-boot if you need both.

Can I dual-boot Ubuntu and Kali on one laptop?

Yes. Dual-boot is an add-on. We partition the drive. The BIOS boot menu asks which OS to load. That is the setup we recommend if this is your only machine.

Which tools come pre-installed with Kali?

Current Kali’s default image. That is Kali’s Top 10 — Nmap, Wireshark, Burp Suite, Metasploit, sqlmap, John the Ripper, Hydra, Aircrack-ng, NetExec, Responder — plus the rest of kali-linux-default: recon, web testing, passwords, wireless, traffic analysis, forensics, reporting. The set tracks Kali at the time we configure the laptop. The list on this page is the official default, not every package in the archive.

Can I get more than the default tools?

Yes. Kali’s repos are on the machine. Ghidra, OWASP ZAP, BloodHound, and the rest of the archive are one apt command. Ask when you order if you want an extra metapackage. We do not install kali-linux-everything unless you say so.

Do you sell “hacking laptops”?

No. We are a Linux shop. We will install Kali for authorized security work, university labs, and professional pentest kits. We do not teach or assist with unauthorized access.

Will Wi-Fi and the GPU work on Kali?

We test Wi-Fi, GPU, audio, webcam, Bluetooth, and touchscreen on the installed Kali system before it ships. If it fails, it does not leave.

Do you build these laptops?

No. We source new Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Asus machines, install Linux, and test them. You keep the manufacturer warranty.
