What is Kali Linux on a laptop from us?

We are a Linux shop that will install Kali — not a costume hacking laptop brand. Authorized security work, lab kits, and professional pentest bags are the use case. Kali is Offensive Security’s distribution: Debian Testing under the hood, a security-focused package set, rolling tools. People in this community already know the Top 10 and the longer toolkit list. What they need is the OS on a chassis that suspends, associates with Wi-Fi, drives a GPU without a weekend of DKMS archaeology, and can be warrantied when a hinge fails.

Kali can be picky about firmware. That is why this page exists. We source current name-brand notebooks, install current Kali at configuration time, and do not ship until wireless, GPU, audio, webcam, Bluetooth, and touchscreen pass on the installed system.

Kali’s own default desktop is Xfce. GNOME and other desktops are available on the product page if you prefer them. Say what you want in the configure form; we do not invent a house Kali spin.

For most people, Kali is the wrong only OS. It is tuned for security workstations and labs, not for "my aunt needs a browser." If this laptop is also going to write papers and join Zoom, run Ubuntu or Mint as the primary OS and add Kali as the second partition. Two OSes. BIOS boot menu. They do not step on each other.

2. Set Linux Distribution to Kali.

3. Leave Xfce if you want Kali’s usual setup, or pick another listed desktop.

4. Consider Dual Boot if you need a normal desktop OS alongside Kali. Windows, when needed, is only that Dual Boot add-on — not a Home/Pro variant label.

5. An engineer installs and tests at the East Coast shop. Ships USA only in 5 business days, tracking emailed before it leaves.
