  1. Review of HP 17.3" Intel i5-8265U 3.90 GHz 8GB RAM & 1TB HDD

Nice for a little bit, but

I purchased this from you, it worked, but was a little sluggish, for Linux. About 2 months out, the WiFi NIC went out, no amount of driver changing / updates would bring it back to life.

Ok, so I got a USB dongle and continued to use the laptop, which became more and more sluggish with every passing day. I ran a benchmark test on it, and it pointed to the graphics section as the problem. Since there's no real way to repair that on the integrated motherboard, I installed more RAM in the hopes that would speed things up some, but alas. It did nothing other than cost money.

I bought another HP laptop from HP, and installed Linux, and it's been faithfully chugging along ever since, with zero problems.

  3. Review of HP 17.3" Intel i5-8265U 3.90 GHz 8GB RAM & 1TB HDD

    Holding On

I had to reinstall the Linux OS myself one time and it seems after the only update that it allowed, it lost all its graphic elements and I only see some text now to select things like Mozilla Browser. I can use the browser and I see all the things on the Internet but other parts of the storage or off line items, no. I can no longer view my files that were on there but I am sure they are still there. I believe an new fresh install is require but I just haven't had the time to download the latest version of linux and go over the steps from a good how to You Tube video as I have done in the past. I did not get any help for you all on that. The monitor section of the laptop broke at the right side hinge and now the disc player does not work. It deformed somewhat and cracked the body where the hinge sits. But the operation of the computer continues. Mixed feelings about it. It cost a lot and there was no need to pay that much. The processor is far too slow at less that 2.0 GHz. I think it is actually only 1.5 Ghz. It was not enough for a job I was doing for work from home and I had to buy a new lenovo with a faster processor to keep that job at the time.

But it works basically. just doesn't do normal things as it should like looking at my files and seeing other graphics. Whatever. I won't buy another one from you all. Thanks.
