The Linux Laptop Company
Brand-new Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Asus machines. Linux, fully configured.
The Linux Laptop Company sells new, name-brand laptops with Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Fedora, Debian, Kali, and 30+ other distributions pre-installed. We test Wi-Fi, GPU, audio, webcam, and Bluetooth before the box leaves Virginia Beach. Founded in 2007. A KIRE company.
What is a Linux laptop from us?
A Linux laptop here is not a white-box chassis with a random ISO. It is a current Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, or Asus notebook. We wipe the recovery partition Windows tax, install the distribution you choose, load the desktop environment you want, and make the hardware behave — Wi-Fi chipsets, NVIDIA or AMD graphics, webcams, Bluetooth, audio, fingerprint readers when the kernel allows.
You keep the manufacturer’s hardware warranty. If a hinge fails in year one, you go to HP or Dell like anyone else. That is the difference between a boutique Linux OEM and a store that puts Linux on hardware you can actually get serviced.
Who this is for
- Developers who want Ubuntu LTS or Fedora on a ThinkPad or IdeaPad, not a science project
- Students and offices leaving Windows without losing brand-name support
- Security work on Kali or Debian, installed and tested before it ships
- Anyone who has already spent a weekend fighting a Broadcom card and would rather not do it again
How we differ from System76, Framework, and “install it yourself”
System76 and Framework build excellent Linux-first machines. We do something else: we take the laptops people already trust — the ones IT departments, campuses, and repair shops know — and we make Linux the factory OS. You get name-brand parts, a standard warranty, and a distro list that is not locked to one vendor’s image.
Buying a Windows laptop and installing Linux yourself still works. It also still fails in the same places: firmware, Wi-Fi, suspend, the webcam. We take that work. If it does not work, it does not ship.
Distributions we install
Default is Ubuntu LTS with GNOME. On request: Linux Mint, Fedora, Debian, Pop!_OS, Kali, Arch, Manjaro, Zorin, elementary, openSUSE, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and others. Dual-boot with Windows is available as an add-on.
How an order works
- Pick a laptop on the shop.
- Choose RAM, SSD, Linux distribution, and desktop environment.
- A Linux engineer installs, configures, and tests the machine.
- It ships UPS Ground, typically 3–5 business days, ready to open.

Linux laptop FAQs
Do you build these laptops?
No. We source new Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Asus machines, install Linux, and test them. You keep the manufacturer warranty.
Are they new?
Yes. Brand-new, not refurbished. Linux is installed here in Virginia Beach before shipping.
Will Wi-Fi work?
Yes. We do not ship a laptop whose wireless, GPU, audio, webcam, or Bluetooth failed testing. That is the product.
Can I pick a distro other than Ubuntu?
Yes. Ubuntu LTS and GNOME are the default. Mint, Fedora, Debian, Kali, Arch, and others are on the product page.
Can I order more RAM?
Only if the chassis has SO-DIMM slots. Soldered LPDDR is SSD-only. We will not sell you RAM that is not in a slot.
Who answers the phone?
A small side business, not a corporate queue. Virginia Beach. Toll-free 877-547-3638. Email info@thelinuxlaptop.com. Longer answers are on the FAQ.
