Clear

Ubuntu LTS + GNOME if you want our recommendation. Omarchy, Herald OS, Fedora, Bazzite, CachyOS, and any listed distro if you don’t. Herald OS is alpha: independent project by Luke The Dev (@iamlukethedev), MIT, Fedora + Hermes Agent — not affiliated with Nous Research.

Dual-boot (optional)

Not ready to commit 100% to Linux? We’ll partition the drive. The BIOS boot menu asks which OS to load each time it starts.

Briefcase (optional)

A padded sleeve for the commute. The 15.6" case fits 14 and 15 inch machines. The 17" bag fits 15.6, 16, and 17 inch.

Mouse (optional)

A simple Logitech wireless mouse that works on Linux. Nano receiver, plug it in and forget it.

Why so few reviews? Well, we've been an independent Linux shop customizing and shipping Linux laptops that just work out-of-the-box to our valued customers since 2007. While we've sent out more than 5,000 machines all over the world, we have only recently started asking customers for product reviews, so our review count is new and still growing. Every review here is from a real, verified buyer and we'd love for you to be our next one. Oh, and after we ship you your dream machine, please leave one too. 😘

  1. Review of Dell Inspiron 15.6" AMD Athlon 3050U 4GB RAM & 128GB SSD

Good for seeing what the linux (ubuntu) world is like

Step one: Ordered Dell Inspiron with Ubuntu installed

Step Two: plugged it in and turned it on

Step Three: No problems getting started

This computer is handy to have for casual web surfing and miscellaneous tasks while my main computer is tied up and configured with more elaborate projects. Perhaps I should have gone one or two offerings higher in the price range, but I'm happy with what I got and have already referred a couple of friends to your site.

  2. Review of Dell 15.6" Touchscreen Laptop, Intel Core i5-1235U with up to 64GB RAM, 2TB SSD

    Retired

Running Ubuntu, it was really slow. The power saver was the problem.
It occasionally dies. Evidently Dell laptops have a problem with static electricity.
