A laptop ready to use with Slackware installed

The Linux Laptop Company

The oldest surviving distro. Installed, tested, shipped.

Slackware is the one that is still here: conservative, Unix-like, no installer theater. We put it on a current Lenovo, Dell, HP, Acer, or Asus, make Wi-Fi and the rest of the hardware behave, and ship UPS Ground in 3–5 business days. Manufacturer warranty stays on the machine.

What we install Current Slackware. KDE Plasma unless you pick another desktop.
Why it exists The oldest surviving Linux distro still shipping. pkgtools, simplicity, no surprises.
Desktop KDE Plasma by default. Xfce, GNOME, and others are available on the product page.
The hardware Name-brand OEM. Radios tested. Warranty you can take to Dell or Lenovo.

What is Slackware on a laptop from us?

Slackware is Patrick Volkerding’s distribution — 1993, still here, still conservative. People who want it already know why. They do not need a brochure. They need it on a chassis that suspends, associates with Wi-Fi, and can be warrantied when a hinge fails.

We install current Slackware, load the desktop you pick, and make the silicon honest: Wi-Fi, GPU, webcam, Bluetooth, audio, touchscreen. If a radio fails, it does not ship. You keep pkgtools, the Slackware way of doing things, and a manufacturer warranty that exists in the world.

This shop has been around Slackware since the early nineties. That is not a slogan. It is why the pill is on the homepage. Ubuntu LTS is still the default if you do not pick something else.

Who this is for

  • People who have run Slackware for years and want it on a Lenovo or Dell, not a science project
  • Anyone who prefers a conservative Unix-like system to an app store
  • Admins who want pkgtools and a machine a local shop can open
  • People comparing Slackware to Debian who still want name-brand parts

How we install it

On the product page, set Linux Distribution to Slackware. KDE Plasma is the usual desktop; Xfce and GNOME are there if you want them. We install current Slackware at configuration time.

Ubuntu LTS remains the shop default. Slackware is one checkbox away. Same radio testing, same 3–5 day ship, same manufacturer warranty.

Same dual-boot add-on as every other distro: we partition the drive; the BIOS boot menu asks which OS to load.

Pick a laptop on the shop. Set Linux Distribution to Slackware. Desktop defaults to KDE Plasma if you want the usual setup for this distro. A Linux engineer installs, configures, and tests the machine. It ships UPS Ground, typically 3–5 business days, tracking emailed before it leaves.

Other distros we install

Ubuntu LTS is the shop default. These pages cover the distros people pick on the product page. Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu, MX Linux, Solus, Nobara, and LMDE are still available on the product page.
