Ubuntu is Canonical’s distribution — the one most people mean when they say “just put Linux on it.” Long-term support releases get five years of updates. The Software app looks like a phone store. apt is there when you want a terminal. It is what Stack Overflow, university labs, and most how-to videos assume you are running. That is why it is our default. Not because it is the only serious distro. Because it is the one a new Linux user can open, and the one a developer already has muscle memory for. We do not ship a Canonical image locked to this shop. We install current Ubuntu LTS (or Ubuntu Latest if you choose it), load the desktop you pick, and make the silicon honest: Wi-Fi, GPU, webcam, Bluetooth, audio, touchscreen. If a radio fails, it does not ship. ## Who this is for - Anyone who has never installed Linux and does not want a weekend of firmware - Students and offices that need the OS every tutorial, LMS, and IT doc already describes - Developers who want Ubuntu LTS on a ThinkPad or Dell, not a mystery chassis - People leaving Windows 11 who still want a dock, an app store, and a local account ## How we install it On the product page, set Linux Distribution to Ubuntu LTS (recommended). That is also the default if you leave it. Ubuntu Latest is the current non-LTS release if you want newer packages and a shorter support window. Desktop defaults to GNOME. Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Lubuntu are listed separately if you want those flavors instead of Ubuntu-plus-a-different-DE. Dual-boot is an add-on: we partition the drive and the BIOS boot menu asks which OS to load. Ubuntu on one side, Windows or a second distro on the other.
