Kali is Offensive Security’s distribution: Debian Testing, a security-focused package set, rolling tools. People in this community already know what it is. They do not need a brochure. They need the OS on a chassis that suspends, associates with Wi-Fi, and can be warrantied when a hinge fails. We are not a “hacking laptop” shop. We are a Linux shop that will install Kali, test the radios, and stand behind the hardware the same way we stand behind Ubuntu. Authorized security work, university labs, and professional pentest kits are the use. If you want a friendly desktop for email and school PDFs, pick Ubuntu or Mint instead. Kali can be picky about firmware. That is why this page exists. Kali’s own default desktop is Xfce; GNOME is on the list if you prefer it. We install current Kali at configuration time.
