The Linux Laptop Company ## Started by people who got tired of fighting their own hardware. We sell brand-new Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Asus laptops with Linux already on them — not a recovery USB and a wish. Wi-Fi, GPU, webcam, Bluetooth, audio, touchscreen. Tested. Then it ships. That sounds simple. Anyone who has spent a Saturday on a Broadcom card, an NVIDIA driver, or a webcam that Linux cannot see knows it is not. We started this company because we wanted that work done *before* the box hit the porch. Parent company **KIRE** has been in the Linux world since 1998. The Linux Laptop Company has been shipping machines since **2007**. More than **5,000** laptops later, the pitch is the same: name-brand hardware, your distro, a human on the phone. Two kinds of customers. One machine. ## Whether you have never installed Linux, or you have the scars from doing it. If you are new ### It should just be a laptop. Ubuntu or Linux Mint. A desktop that looks like a computer. Firefox, LibreOffice, printers that work. You do not need to learn the word “distro” on day one. We pick defaults that are kind to humans, and we are a phone call away when you are not sure where the Wi-Fi menu went. If you already run Linux ### Stop donating weekends to firmware. You know how to install Ubuntu. You also know a modern OEM laptop can still eat three nights of kernel, nvme, and suspend debugging. We do that part. You pick Fedora, Arch, CachyOS, Bazzite, Kali, Debian — we make the hardware behave and you get back to actual work. For the community ### Linux on hardware people can service. We put GNU/Linux on Acer, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Asus so you keep the manufacturer warranty. When a hinge fails, you are not shipping a mystery chassis overseas. That is good for you, and it is good for Linux showing up in offices, schools, and homes around here that need hardware a local tech can service. Out of the box ## New to Linux does not mean “good luck.” Windows 11 has trained a lot of people to expect nags, accounts, and Copilot. Linux does not have to look like a terminal from 1998. On the machines we ship, it looks like a modern desktop: a dock, an app store, a browser, documents. We install the multimedia codecs so video plays. We set up the office suite so you can open the .docx from your kid’s school. We confirm the wireless card associates with a normal home router. Then we write down who built it, so you have a person — not a ticket queue. If you want Mint because a friend said it feels like Windows, say so. If you want vanilla Ubuntu LTS because that is what every tutorial uses, that is the default. You are allowed to be a beginner here. The boring proof ## Guesswork is our job. We installed Slackware in the early nineties and never really left. Floppies, man pages, staying up too late because the box finally did what we asked. In 1998 we started KIRE around Linux shell accounts — people logging in from home and getting real work done on a Unix-like machine instead of waiting on a lab. That is still the kind of outfit this is: small, a little stubborn, happiest when Linux just works. The laptop company started in 2007 for a selfish reason. We wanted a brand-name notebook that actually fully worked on our favorite operating system the moment you opened the lid. Wi-Fi. The webcam. The sound. The touchscreen. Not “mostly,” not after a weekend on a forum. We got tired of doing that to our own Dells and Lenovos, so we started doing it for other people. This is a small side business.
